Just got back from a quick trip out to Colorado, where I had a chance to play some great golf. Right next to Winter Park and Grand Lake are 4 championship properties, worth a look.
First is Headwaters at Granby Ranch. It's a Valley course, with great views of the mountains and a stern test on the back nine, as it rises in elevation. Plays out over 7 thousand yards, but remember the ball travels 10% more in altitude, so fear not! You need to place your tee shot correctly on this course, and it's not always a driver!
Next course was Grand Elk, just across the road and another Valley course. This one designed by Craig Stadler. Again over 7 thousand in length and also with some "major" carrys. Make sure you pick the right tees on this one. It's a great test, and lots of fun!
Grand Lake Golf Course is public, and it's a great play. Only disappointment here, was that they lost thousands of pine trees to Beetle infestation. Still at $60. it's worth the play. While. teeing up on the back side, a moose and two young, crossed my path. Needless to say, I let them play through!
Last but not lest is Pole Creek. 27 holes and my favorite of the four courses. Great views, lots of elevation change and their new nine, the Ridge, is spectacular! The final hole on the Ridge is awesome and, you will enjoy this one!!! There is lots of great golf in Colorado, be sure to check out some of the websites while you are on vacation. Never Ever, forget your clubs. Mark these four down, as I recommend them highly!
